Before You Light Your Burn Off
For many property owners and occupants, burning-off vegetation waste is an effective way to prepare and maintain their property.
Here are some important steps and tips to take before you light your burn-off pile.
- Check your council’s local law regarding when and where you can burn off? Yarra Ranges
- Check the weather and don’t burn-off on days with more than a light wind. BOM site
- For small fires have access to a connected hose or at least 10 litres of water. For larger fires appropriate firefighting equipment and/or machinery may be required.
- Create a 3-metre clearance of all flammable material around your whole burn-off site.
- Register your burn-off by calling 1800 668 511
- Ensure your burn-off is completely extinguished before you leave it.
