Daylight Saving Ending 2026

Daylight Saving Time ends 3am Sunday 5th April 2026.

Turn your clocks BACK 1 hour.

Upwey CFA encourages you to check your smoke alarms are in working order when daylight saving ends this Sunday. 

Three easy steps;

  • Test all your smoke alarms – press the test button and alarm should sound
  • Dust all your smoke alarms using a vacuum brush
  • Check &/or change the battery annually.  Long life batteries can last up to 10 years and don’t need changing.

Wednesday 11th Feb 2026 has been declared a day of Total Fire Ban in the Wimmera, North Central and CENTRAL (includes Melbourne and Geelong) district(s) of Victoria.

No fires can be lit or be allowed to remain alight in the open air from 12:01 AM on Wednesday 11th Feb 2026 until 11:59 PM Wednesday 11th Feb 2026.

This includes the Upwey area and surrounding areas.

Extreme Fire Danger Rating issued for Wednesday 11th February 2026

  • Check your bushfire plan and that your property is fire ready.
  • If a fire starts, take immediate action. If you and your property are not prepared to the highest level, go to a safer location well before the fire impacts.
  • Reconsider travel through bushfire risk areas.
  • Leaving bushfire risk areas early in the day is your safest option.

Upwey Men's Shed Donation 2025

Big thanks to Upwey Men’s Shed for building a new water target prop for us.

What we received from the far exceeded what we were expecting.

Join us Saturday 29th from 2pm – 4pm when we open the station to the public.

Lots on show including meet your local firies, get your photo in a fire truck, games, fire safety info and have go at squirting a fire hose at the new prop to see if you can put out the “fire” in the window.

🚨🔥 We’re Climbing for a Cause! 🔥🚨 

Five of our dedicated Upwey CFA volunteer firefighters — Beth, Darron, Jay, Jesse, and Mike — are taking on the Melbourne Firefighter Stair Climb 2025! 🧑‍🚒🏃‍♀️🏃‍♂️ 

This year’s climb is more than just a physical challenge — it’s a powerful mission to raise vital funds for Cancer Research and Crisis Support. 🎗️💛

 
For our brigade, this is deeply personal. Many of us have lost loved ones to cancer and mental health struggles. And this year, Mike joins our team of climbers just one year after his own battle with bowel cancer. A strong team working together to raise hope, awareness, and funds for others facing tough battles. 💪❤️  
 
We’re also incredibly grateful to be supported in our training by our amazing fitness coach Maddie, who’s helping our team stay strong and ready for the challenge ahead. 🏋️‍♀️🔥 💥 
 
Help us reach our fundraising goal! Your support — big or small — will directly help those in need, funding life-saving research and support services.
